Friends of Norfolk Dialect

PRESS RELEASE

THE WRITE WAY TO FAME AND FORTUNE - AND WIN £100!

Forget the Booker and Whitbread national writing competitions! Norfolk now has its very own prestigious short story writing challenge. It is open to everyone, will be judged by a distinguished panel of local judges and there are three prizes to be won- £100, £50 and £30.
This new project has been inspired by Keith Skipper who, in his recent book "How to Survive in Norfolk", made a satirical reference to his hope for a revival of the long forgotten "Trosher" writing competition with names such as Charles Dickens, Victor Hugo and Anthony Trollope, as well as, more recently, Sid Kipper being mentioned.

Keith's reference to this little known competition has been welcomed by the Friends of the Norfolk Dialect who have devised a modern set of rules - see below - and invite everyone with an interest in preserving our cultural and literary heritage to enter this competition and get the story that academics say is inside all of us out and on to paper - and win!

Entry forms can be collected from any of the 47 libraries across the county or by sending a stamped addressed envelope to eitherPeter Brooks, 68a, Cromer Road, Sheringham, NR26 8RT or Colin Burleigh, 7, William Cowper Close, Toftwood,Dereham, NR19 1LT.
