WHO ARE WE?
The Friends of Norfolk Dialect
A group formed in 1999 to conserve and record Norfolk's priceless linguistic and cultural heritage.
WHAT DO WE WANT?
To record as many as possible of our county's traditional words, sayings,
stories and songs.
To campaign for the recognition and teaching of "Norfolk" as an authentic
English regional dialect and to assist film and TV Producers to achieve
the correct accent in drama productions set in Norfolk.
To exchange ideas and information by any means we can employ, including
the Internet and information packs for schools.
To seek the help of other organisations and experts in building up an
archive in literature and sound,to organise social and fund raising events
in all parts of the county, and to publish a regular
newsletter called "THE MERRY MAWKIN"
